R22 Legislation

R22 refrigerant was used in air conditioning systems up to the year 2000. Studies have shown that this gas has a high ozone depletion potential (ODP). This gas must be phased out by the 2015 deadline. All new systems now use environmentally friendly gases such as R407c. The safe removal of R22 and it’s integral chemicals should only be undertaken by companies on the REFCOM Register. Franklynair has been on the REFCOM Register since 2003 and all of our engineers are on the ACRIB register for the safe handling of refrigerants.
